TEXTURES ANNOUNCE BREAK UP

Ladies and gentlemen,

There is no easy way to say this, so here it is:

TEXTURES comes to an end.

Personal motives have led to this decision and it has not been made in haste. These personal reasons made it harder to be the productive band TEXTURES always has been in the past and which this band needs to be. Without this dedication TEXTURES would merely be a shell of what it used to be.

Break-ups are never easy and always bring difficulties. Unfortunately we have to announce that our anticipated 6th album ‘Genotype’ will not be released and so there will be no double album. At least not for the coming years…

The break-up of TEXTURES doesn’t mean that there is any hardship within the band. We still have a strong connection with current and former members and this decision won’t lead to any tensions whatsoever. Furthermore the individual bandmembers will continue to make music and persue new musical endeavours. Keep your eyes and ears open…

Thanks to all the friends, fellow musicians and other colleagues we have had the pleasure to meet along the way. And of course special thanks to all the fans who have supported us throughout the years. It is your dedication, appreciation and continued presence at our shows all over the world that made this journey one to remember for a lifetime.
We hope to see you all very soon on our farewell tour.

TEXTURES – OUT

TEXTURES BIOGRAPHY – Last Miles to the Moon for Textures

In 2003 TEXTURES enters the scene with a radical and fairly uncommon concept at that time: the sextet skips the demo-phase entirely and releases their debut-album Polars independently on a professional level and with that TEXTURES becomes the first Dutch Do It Yourself band: management, album/merch artwork, music videos, studio reports and a full-length album recorded in a self-built studio; everything in full control of band.
In 2004 the band proudly received the Essent Award for most promising talent.
After that the tiger was out of the cage. TEXTURES immediately storms international clubs and festivals and shares stages with bands like Slipknot, Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Avenged Sevenfold, Opeth, Sepultura, Meshuggah and Rammstein.
In 2006 TEXTURES takes the – then fairly unknown – French band Gojira with them on their very first tour outside of France.

After releasing three albums (including highly acclaimed 3rd album Silhouettes) through Listenable Records, TEXTURES seriously steps up their game as they sign a worldwide recorddeal with Nuclear Blast for their 4th album ‘Dualism’ (2011) and 5th album ‘Phenotype’ (2016). In the meantime TEXTURES gets worldwide credits as co-founder of the new-born metalgenres ‘”mathmetal” and “djent”.

TEXTURES displays their sophisticated, modern metal on numerous tours and by a miraculous coincidence the band becomes – not big in Japan – but big in India. The band headlines shows in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and Calcutta with crowds of 10.000 people.
After five studio albums with many European tours, a lengthy run through the USA, Mexico, Canada and Russia the mileage counter shows – in total – 330.000 travelled kilometers (205.052 mi).
Will TEXTURES reach the illustrious total distance from the earth to the moon; 363.000 km (225.558 mi) on their farewell tour?

TEXTURES WINS BUMA ROCKS! EXPORT AWARD 2017

We’re proud to announce that Textures wins this year’s Buma ROCKS! Export Award. The six-piece from the province of Brabant will receive this prestigious Award as a reward for their successful career abroad.

The Award will be handed to the band in a special, one-off radio show of Buma ROCKS! on Pinguin Radio, Sunday May 21st between 10 PM and midnight, hosted by Frank Helmink, director of Buma Cultuur, and Peter van der Laan.

Frank Helmink: “First and foremost the Buma ROCKS! Export Award is a prize that is handed to a Dutch band or artist that has considerable success outside of the Netherlands. Next to that the Award obviously aims to celebrate the winner. In Textures’ case quite deserved, for the band’s unique and unmistakable musical style – technical, yet beautifully played progressive death metal with a tinge of hardcore – has been recognized internationally from their early days on. Textures have made their mark on numerous other bands since their inception in 2001 and have helped to stress the Netherlands’ importance as a (hard)rock and metal country.”

The fact that Helmink himself is a longtime fan of Textures doesn’t have anything to do with the granting of the Award, he says with a grin: “It isn’t up to me to determine who wins the Award. I rely on my team of musical experts who are happy to have a heated discussion about this.”

Textures have expressed their joy on winning the Award: “From an audience of 50 to one of 50.000. From a busted van to a Boeing 747. From Etten-Leur to New-Delhi. From being trend setters to being an inspiration and from villagers to world citizens: we did make quite a promotion over the past 16 years. We’ve known hardships on the road, but that brought us some good stories. Thanks for the credits for that big part of our gigs – over 75 percent – we played abroad.”

Founded in 2001, Textures have grown into an internationally famous and musically challenging band with almost a million touring kilometres under their belts. They recorded five groundbreaking albums and brought their dauntingly tight and energetic live shows to all the important rock and metal festivals. Nice to know: Textures has a massive fanbase in India and has performed there regularly to audiences of five thousand plus. The band will announce their autumn tour shortly.

BUMA ROCKS! EXPORT AWARD
Starting in May of 2014, the Buma ROCKS! Export Award has been handed to Adrian Vandenberg, Epica and Within Temptation consecutively. This Award is the continuation of the Conamus Export Prize (1972-2005) and the Buma Export Prize (2006-2012), who were awarded to the most internationally successful artists, music producers and authors in the field of Dutch copyright. The Buma ROCKS! Export Award aims to emphasize the international reach of Dutch acts in (hard)rock, metal and punk.

TEXTURES ANNOUNCE DUTCH CLUBTOUR 'WITHIN THE HORIZON'

Dutch progressive metalband TEXTURES have just announced their tour ‘WITHIN THE HORIZON’, which will be held in the Netherlands only. This tour will be in support of the album ‘PHENOTYPE’, which was released earlier this year and was highly acclaimed worldwide. Where the band normally plays main cities, they have now chosen to play on rare terrain such as Lelystad, Sittard and Middelburg.

The band explains:

“Previous years we have always played major cities, just to reach as many fans as possible. We feel that we have forgotten a certain group of fans that do not have the possibility to reach these kinds of cities. This way we want to make up for that by coming to the fans instead of the other way around.”

Last year TEXTURES has toured extensively throughout all of Europe, but will now play on home soil. The supportact for this tour will be Eindhoven based progressive groove metallers ‘Extremities’.

Tourdates are as followed:

04-14: Underground – Lelystad
04-21: Neushoorn – Leeuwarden
04-22: Atak – Enschede
04-23: Luxor – Arnhem
04-28: Volt – Sittard
